This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones Game9bit.com.pk uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
By continuing to use Game9bit.com.pk, you consent to the use of cookies as described here, except where you have withdrawn consent through the controls set out below.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, tablet, or phone when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device on return visits and to remember information about your preferences and activity.
Cookies cannot run programs, install software, or deliver viruses to your device. They store small pieces of data, such as an anonymous identifier or a preference setting.
Alongside cookies, websites use related technologies that work in similar ways:
- Web beacons (pixel tags) — tiny transparent images used to count views and measure whether an email or page was opened
- Local storage — a browser feature that stores larger amounts of data on your device, used for things like remembering a dismissed notice
- Software development kits (SDKs) — code within third-party services that may collect device information
Throughout this policy, “cookies” refers to all of these technologies.
2. Types of Cookies
2.1 By Who Sets Them
First-party cookies are set by Game9bit.com.pk directly. We use these for essential site functions and basic preferences.
Third-party cookies are set by other companies whose services appear on our pages — advertising networks, analytics providers, and embedded content such as videos or social media posts. We do not control these cookies and cannot access the data they collect.
2.2 By How Long They Last
Session cookies are temporary and are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period — anywhere from a day to two years — or until you delete them manually.
3. Cookies Used on Game9bit.com.pk
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are required for the Site to function. Without them, pages may not load correctly or securely.
Purpose: security, fraud prevention, load balancing, remembering your cookie consent choice, and maintaining a session if you log in as a contributor.
Can you disable them? These cannot be switched off through our consent tool, as the Site cannot operate without them. You can still block them in your browser, but parts of the Site will break.
3.2 Preference and Functionality Cookies
Purpose: remembering choices you have made so you do not have to set them again — for example, dismissing a notification bar, a display preference, or a language setting.
Can you disable them? Yes. The Site will still work, but it will forget your preferences on each visit.
3.3 Analytics and Performance Cookies
Purpose: helping us understand how visitors use the Site — which articles are read, how long people stay, where they arrive from, which pages produce errors, and how the Site performs on different devices and connections. This data is used in aggregate to improve our content and our site speed.
Providers: we use Google Analytics and may use our hosting provider’s built-in analytics.
Can you disable them? Yes, through our consent tool, your browser settings, or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked in section 5.
3.4 Advertising and Targeting Cookies
Game9bit is free to read and is funded largely by advertising. These cookies are what make that possible.
Purpose: delivering advertisements, limiting how many times you see the same ad, measuring whether an ad campaign worked, and in some cases showing advertising relevant to your interests based on your browsing across different websites.
Providers: Google AdSense and Google’s advertising partners are the main providers. We may work with additional networks over time.
Google uses cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use their own cookies to serve ads on our Site.
Important: we do not have access to or control over cookies set by third-party advertisers, and this policy does not govern their practices. Please review the privacy and cookie policies of those companies for details.
Can you disable them? Yes, using the opt-out links in section 5. Note that opting out does not remove advertising — it means the ads you see will be generic rather than tailored to you.
3.5 Embedded Content Cookies
Some articles embed content from other platforms — YouTube videos, X (Twitter) posts, Instagram posts, or Facebook content. These embeds may set their own cookies as though you had visited the platform directly, even if you do not click on them.
We have no control over these cookies. If this concerns you, avoid pages with embeds or use a browser configured to block third-party cookies.
4. Why We Use Cookies
To summarise, cookies allow us to:
- Keep the Site secure and functioning
- Remember your preferences between visits
- Understand which articles readers find useful so we can write more of them
- Diagnose technical problems and improve loading speed, which matters on mobile data
- Display advertising that funds the Site and keeps it free
- Measure the effectiveness of advertising for the brands that support us
We do not use cookies to collect sensitive personal information, and we do not sell the data cookies generate.
5. How to Control Cookies
You have several options.
5.1 Our Consent Tool
Where a cookie consent banner is displayed on the Site, you can accept or reject non-essential categories and change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link, usually found in the footer.
5.2 Browser Settings
Every major browser lets you view, delete, and block cookies. Blocking all cookies will break parts of this and most other websites.
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari (macOS): Safari → Settings → Privacy
- Safari (iOS): Settings app → Safari → Privacy & Security
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
- Chrome on Android: Chrome → ⋮ → Settings → Site settings → Cookies
- Samsung Internet: ⋮ → Settings → Sites and downloads → Manage cookies
- Opera: Settings → Privacy & security → Cookies
Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode, which discards cookies when the window is closed.
5.3 Advertising Opt-Outs
To opt out of personalised advertising specifically:
- Google Ads Settings: https://adssettings.google.com
- Digital Advertising Alliance: https://www.aboutads.info/choices/
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: https://www.youronlinechoices.com/
- Network Advertising Initiative: https://optout.networkadvertising.org/
On mobile, you can also limit ad tracking at the operating system level:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID, or turn on “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising
5.4 Analytics Opt-Out
To prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits across all websites, install the official opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
5.5 Ad Blockers
You are free to use an ad blocker. We would ask you to consider whitelisting Game9bit.com.pk, since advertising is what pays for the writing, hosting, and testing that goes into the Site. But that is your decision, and we do not block access to readers who use one.
6. What Happens If You Disable Cookies
Disabling cookies has consequences:
- Strictly necessary cookies disabled: the Site may not load, display, or function correctly.
- Preference cookies disabled: your settings and dismissed notices reset on every visit.
- Analytics cookies disabled: no effect on your experience. We simply have less information about which articles are useful.
- Advertising cookies disabled: you will still see ads, but they will be generic. Advertisers may pay less for these, which reduces the revenue that funds the Site.
7. Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal to websites. There is currently no agreed industry standard for how sites should respond to these signals, and Game9bit does not currently change its behaviour in response to them. Please use the cookie and opt-out controls described above instead.
8. Cookies and Children
Game9bit.com.pk is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly use cookies to build profiles of children. Parents and guardians who wish to restrict tracking on a child’s device should use the browser and operating system controls listed in section 5, together with any parental control features available on that device.
9. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this policy as our service providers, advertising partners, or legal obligations change. When we do, we will amend the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
If we make a significant change to the categories of cookies we use, we will refresh the consent banner so that you can review your choices.
10. More Information
To learn more about cookies generally, including how to see what is stored on your device, independent resources such as allaboutcookies.org provide plain-language guidance.
